Start here: HubSpot Free vs Capsule vs Pipedrive
Our main comparison, with prices and limits checked on October 8, 2026.
All three CRMs hold your contacts and show deals as a pipeline. For a solo founder, three things set them apart: what the free plan really includes, when automation and email sync unlock, and what the bill looks like once a second person joins. The short version:
- HubSpot Free CRM: the strongest $0 option, with no expiry date. It also comes with far more tools than most solo founders use.
- Capsule: a simple, contact-first CRM for consultants, agencies and freelancers who sell through relationships.
- Pipedrive: built around the deal pipeline, for founders who sell actively and think in stages. There is a free trial but no free plan.
- None of them: if you have only a handful of active conversations and review your sheet every week, a spreadsheet is still fine.

- Research-based, and we say so. Comparisons are built from each vendor’s published pricing, plan limits and documentation. We put the date we checked next to every price, because vendors change them often.
- No invented testing. We don’t claim long-term hands-on tests we haven’t done. When a guide is based on public information only, it says so.
- Who should skip it. Every comparison says who should not buy each tool, and when free tools or a spreadsheet are enough.
- Money is disclosed. Some links may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you (how that works). HubSpot links are for education only; we earn nothing from them.
